Roots, Reach, Renewal

Two decades ago, in the red soil of Kottakarai village near Auroville, Sapney Farm began as a quiet personal dream. A half-acre of parched land transformed into a living classroom of permaculture, healing, and harmony—where volunteers learned to mend earth, grow food naturally, and remember our bond with Bhui (Mother Earth).

From that single furrow, the journey has grown steadily: Back to the Land Projects,

The Green Gang gatherings, and now Bija Bhui Foundation—a dedicated Section 8 not-for-profit in India—carries the mission forward with open hearts and steady hands. Every step of this path, from Sapney to Bija Bhui, has been solely funded by founder Seed Snehal Trivedi, without ever seeking donations, grants, or support from government or outside sources—rooted in pure intention and personal commitment to the soil.

Today, we spread hope nationwide: small envelopes of curated desi seeds mix packs (heirloom bhindi, brinjal, coriander, millets, and more) mailed freely across India.Open-pollinated treasures from our heritage, ready to sprout in balconies, backyards, or fields—inviting everyone to plant, nurture, save, and share.

Tomorrow blooms from these gifts: an India where desi varieties thrive again, soil breathes freely, and every home reclaims seed sovereignty.

Water Element / Director

Snehal Trivedi, is a dedicated Director and team member of the Bija Bhui Foundation.
Originally trained as a Graphic Designer, he is a renowned Permaculturist and an influential figure in the Auroville community, where he runs Sapney farm. After returning from the UK, he transitioned his focus to sustainable living and working with nature, a commitment that led him to establish the successful “Heal the Soil” project on barren land near Auroville.
He channels his expertise in permaculture, natural building, and sustainable living into the Foundation’s mission, especially in the areas of conservation, reforestation, and promoting sustainable agriculture and building methods. Seed Snehal is deeply committed to the idea that nature is our greatest teacher and aims to share practical, hands-on knowledge to help others live in harmony with the environment.

Earth Element / Director

A curious soul, devoted mother, and lifelong nature lover. Motherhood — especially the gentle guidance of my little one, Mahanya — transformed me deeply and set me on a path of reconnection with the earth. As a graphic designer, photographer, and passionate home chef, I find deep joy in crafting nourishing meals from the heart, capturing the quiet magic of everyday life, and tending gardens side-by-side with my mini-me. Together with my partner, we choose to live intentionally: embracing minimalism, growing our own food, honoring the rhythms of nature, and creating memories rooted in love and presence. Through Bija Bhui, I invite you to join this shared journey — one of exploration, creativity, conscious stewardship, and profound connection to the living world ‍
